Here's my question,

Is there a program out that can be configured to "watch a program" say M.J. or the O.S. and if MJ or the OS has a problem it can trigger a reboot?

I have the "Task scheduled" setup to reboot the t.c. at 4 am this is fine, but what "if" something quits working something after the task runs, it has to wait till 4am the next day
or when I find it not working.

This pasted Friday I came home to the TC or MJ not working, not sure what happened. I use a remote connection and couldn't log into the TC.

I don't have the room to put up another monitor, mouse/keyboard so I had to hit the power switch on the TC and it shut down, then again to start it up.

I know if the O.S. hangs for some reason nothing is going to work until it hit the power button, but lets say MJ has a hick-up and stops working this program could restart MJ or do a reboot.

TC is a neoware 256/512

Hi nighthawks, There is a free to use program called Teamviewer. It won't alert you to a program failure but it will alleviate the need for an extra monitor, keyboard and mouse. HTH -Kevin N.

That was my remote connection I was using and couldn't connect until I rebooted the TC.

I got one of my old monitors, mouse & keyboard and hooked it up. This way if something quits I can see what's going on right from the TC.

Just was thinking if there was a program to watch the TC and or MJ and if something happened it could restart MJ or reboot the TC,
as long as the whole system didn't lockup. Just an idea for when I'm at work or out and about.

Thanks
Regards
John

So far it's happened twice one with the task at 4am and another with the task off. All the task does is shut down MJ and reboot the TC, so I don't know what locked up.

I have the monitor, mouse/keyboard on so now if something goes wrong I will be able to see the problem, when I couldn't with teamviewer if I can't logon. I will just leave the stuff hooked up, and del. T.V. on the TC. which gives me some more ram back, then again it might have been T.V. that caused the problem.

Regards,
John

any updates on your new setup.
I have removed my MJ from the TC as it is out every morning.Works perfect with my laptop.
Alpman has checked it with teamviewer and can't find out the problem so i;m sending the unit back to him so he can test it.

So far mine is working fine with mon/key/mouse. I uninstalled teamviewer. I have the task still set for 4am to reboot, so far so good.

I had this sort of thing happen to one of my T5710's sometime back. When it happened it was the dongle which needed to be reinserted problem. I reformatted the mj dongle and ran update and then of coarse commited all again and after that the problem went away. Not sure that was the cause but it seems to coincidental not to be.

So far it's been running fine with Mon/key/mouse hooked up.
Then only thing I did was uninstalled teamviewer from the TC.
The thing I did't like with teamviewer (free verson) was the popup ad
after you log off running on the TC.
