I Love the Service/
but HATE the Software.
• Asinine installation.
• Slow to load.
• 1/3 of the user interface is used by Magicjack for advertising. |

I don't debate you criticisms. However, for the price, it's hard to understand someone expecting better than what we're getting. POTS lines or more expensive VOIP services are available, after all.
Still, we feel your pain. |

The software now performs much better than it did about 6mos ago,but still could be much better,MJ doesn't coexist well with other internet/communication apps.
Still running good for me on a tiny XP based machine. |

I've been using MJ for about 7 months now. I just wanted to use it for long distance calls to family and friends, I wanted to keep my land line. I did a lot of reading before I signed up for the service and knew what I could reasonably expect. I keep the dongle in its padded "Case" when not in use.
It was easy to set up and it worked without a problem even when I got a new computer and upgraded my operating system. It has performed as I wished it to without a problem, it paid for itself after the first month and so for six months I feel like I have had free long distance. Happy with MJ? Yep! |

Not to quibble, but it is all in how you use it.
Asinine? Mine installed once more than a year ago. Pffft - I don't even remember it.
Slow? Mine loads on boot. Part of the boot process. It's neither fast nor slow.
Interface - Mine is run on a thin client. What interface? It's plugged into the house and just works. I never even see it. |

| As a fairly unsophisticated computer user, I was nervous about trying Magic Jack. I've had it for over two years now, however, and I'm reasonably happy with it. I use it as my primary phone will cell back up. It's survived to move from Windows Vista to Windows 7 on a new pc without problem. Sure there's been quirks along the way - beeps, echos, occasional dropped calls etc. etc. -but the sound quality seems to be gradually improving. My only beef is the customer service but even that went well last time. If the next two years go as well - I bought the four year plan - I'll consider my almost $100 well spent. |
