Just got my magic jack and noticed the same thing on my iMac and when using it on my MacBook. Since mine is strictly a business line, it doesn't bother me at the moment as I'm pretty much always sitting in front of the machine.

I may decide to replace my normal home phone with one of these, but if I do that I'll build a dedicated small PC to run it instead of using one of my Macs.

If you look over on the Windows threads here, you'll see some PCs also seem to have the "Caller ID not working on the phone, OK on software" issue as well, so it may not just be an issue with the Mac version of the software.

I only get Caller ID on the Mac, not on the telephone itself.

I chatted with 2 levels of support, tier 2 stated the web says no caller ID for Macs, when I asked where, they pointed me to the general KB...... Not sure if its ever coming or not for us mac users, some publications from them would be nice...

Chat InformationPlease wait for a site operator to respond.

Chat InformationYou are now chatting with 'Samantha'

Samantha: Hello, how may I help you?

James McLean: when is the caller ID to the telephones with MAcintosh going to be fixed

James McLean: last time I chatted with someone they said I needed a powered USB hub so I just spent 20 @ wal-mart and it still does not pass caller ID

James McLean: works great on PC using same phone line

James McLean: also unoffical thread about it here: http://www.magicjacksupport.com/login.php?redirect=posting.php&mode=newtopic&f=12

Samantha: The caller ID that magicjack feature has is on its dial pad/softphone.

James McLean: on the PC is passes it to the telephone extention

Samantha: I see

James McLean: I'm not alwasy at my computer and have it set to a wireless handset

Samantha: Please try plugging your magicJack into a different USB port.

James McLean: did that

James McLean: even on your suggestion purchased a powered UBS hub and still no Caller id

Samantha: Try using a different phone with your magicJack.

James McLean: look at the link I sent you, many others with Macs have the same issue

James McLean: can you please submit to support/development to fix

Samantha: One moment please...

Samantha: Thank you for holding

Samantha: Have you tried to use a different phone that has a caller ID?

James McLean: not with the mac, with pc it works fine, not spendig 100 more dollars on new phones

Samantha: I apologize for tha

Samantha: *THAT

Samantha: Are you using the AC powered USB hub?

James McLean: so the phones, work the jack on the wall works, the phone line to the jack works on PC fine, but I need to install on MAC for permanent connection

James McLean: all I did was unplug from PC to Mac and luanch program

James McLean: so has to be a bug in Mac software

Samantha: Okay

Samantha: But the caller ID of magicJack which is on its softphone works,am I correct?

James McLean: yes

James McLean: jsut will not pass to phone, like pc version does

Samantha: Okay

Samantha: Will you allow me to transfer to our higher department?

James McLean: sure

Samantha: Okay

Samantha: One moment please...

Samantha: Thank you for your patience. I will transfer you to a higher level of support. Please hold while I transfer you.

Chat InformationPlease wait while I transfer the chat to the best suited site operator.

Chat InformationYou are now chatting with 'Haley'

Haley: Hello I am Haley the supervisor.

Haley: Please hang on for a while, let me read your chat with Samantha.

James McLean: ok

James McLean: sorry I sent wormg link before:

James McLean: http://www.magicjacksupport.com/cid-on-intel-mac-t2928.html

Haley: One moment please...

Haley: May I have your magicjack phone number please?

James McLean: 910###-#### <removed for posting>

Haley: Thank you.

Haley: Thank you for patiently waiting James.

Haley: You mean the caller ID on the screen?

James McLean: no

James McLean: softphone works fine, mac version will not pass id to telephone

James McLean: pc does

Haley: I see.

Haley: Please be informed James that magicjack do not support caller ID with mac user.

James McLean: not to be rude, but duh! you need to post that someone

James McLean: you have alot of angry mac users at this

James McLean: you should have a disclaimer under the mac section about this

Haley: With due respect James, it is on our website.

James McLean: can you send me a link please

Haley: One moment please...

James McLean: and why did the last rep there last week tell me to get external powered USB hub, hat I spent 20 bucks on

Haley: My apologies maybe that agent did not realize that you are using mac computer.

James McLean: look under the link about the mac http://www.magicjack.com/7/mac.asp there is nothing about no caller id

Haley: Okay.

Haley: Please wait while I check that for you

James McLean: I'm still waiting on your link to the web where is states no caller ID on mac, please, so I can share this info

Haley: http://www.magicjacktv.com/kb

Haley: Please click on that link and look for the features.

James McLean: I have under Do I hve Caller ID with MagicJack:

James McLean: Yes, magicJack will display the caller ID of the person calling you, and other parties with caller ID will see your telephone number when you call them.

James McLean: nothing about, not for macs

James McLean: if it was ever there, its not now, or its so buried noone can find it

James McLean: under "My Caller Id is not working" says nothing about macs

James McLean: thats 3 places it shoule be stated

Haley: Okay, I need a clearer understanding with this,

James McLean: Im done here, just wasting my time, to sum it up, you need to fix your website or the mac software, as you are getting a bad rep for saying it works and it does not.... I will have to find a way to use a pc, since I paid for 5 years of service, and maybe one day you will get it right, but I'm not reommending anymore of my mac freinds to your product until you can tell me its fixed

Haley: Thank you so much for your feedback. I appreciate you giving us an opportunity to correct our mistake

Have you tried using the 100K ohm resister fix?

This might help.

This little $5 device will allow caller ID to work on your phone that is hooked to your magic jack.

Enjoy.

I have received the resister kit. Installed it yesterday. It was worth a shot for $5.50.

Yours is working? I just got mine in the mail too and it's not functioning. I have it plugged into the wall outlet, with a Y adapter coming off of it. One cord goes to my phone that has caller ID. The other wire hooks into magic jack. I know the setup is ok as I can place calls from other phones in the home. The CID just isn't working.

Thoughts?

If more people complain about the lack of CID support for Mac's.

The sooner we will see a new Mac firmware update.

Please help us to push them. Ask the tech support where the update is. Cool

I have been asking them for over a year. I hope I am not the only one.
