I'm new to the vmware workstation idea...Do I need to download that plus have an O/S to run on it?

Yep... VMware is just hardware virtualization, kind of defeats the purpose of having linux if you ask me. I just keep a cheap M$ box hanging around for my VPN and MJ. would like to see some REAL development for MJ on Linux though.
