I'm pushing this thing a little. Here's my setup...

2.4 GHZ 802.11b wireless USB ethernet with a low signal on an old router that has given me problems with internet connections.

2.4 GHZ cheap phone with the base station sitting about a foot from the 2.4 GHZ wireless dongle.

An older XPC Celeron computer with a small 200 Watt power supply.

When I first plugged the MJ in, it couldn't find an internet connection, but I pulled it out and plugged it back in.

It took a few minutes and came up. I had already registered it on a wired computer at work, so my info was already there.

Called my mother in law and it sounded crystal clear on both ends. I noticed a slight delay in the conversation, but she didn't. I'm sure that the delay is from my wireless setup since it wasn't there at work on the wired machine.

I then put a phone on it with a caller ID display to check that function. Had my wife call me from our land line and it worked fine. I noticed the delay in the conversation even more since she was right there in the room. I could hear her in one ear and it was like an echo in the phone. She didn't notice any echo on her end though. Again, I'm sure that it's because of my wireless setup.

The 2.4 GHZ phone is back on it and working fine.

The permanent setup isn't here yet, but will consist of a powered USB hub, a 5.8 GHZ phone system, a wireless repeater and a battery backup. All this being bought with the money I'm saving from the $70.00 a month service to be disconnected in 5 days.

A little update.

I had 3 incoming calls dropped in the first minute (all from the same person) from out of town and another 3 incoming from a local caller dropped after a few seconds of connect time. I'm sure this is because of my wireless ethernet. Luckily, our old landline is still active for now.

I replaced the router and ran a hard wire from it (upstairs) to the downstairs computer with the MJ. Getting the system back up and running wasn't a walk in the park because I also changed the security settings with the new router.

I knocked my internet connection offline during all of this, so we couldn't do any tests until I got it back up. (I also had to reconfigure our wireless security cameras by connecting to each one with a laptop because I forgot the password. Each one had to be reset to factory defaults. That took a lot of time.)

We haven't received any calls nor made any since getting the system back, but the dialtone is there.

I'm hoping that with the faster wired connection, I'll be able to stream our front door camera continuously and have the MJ active on the same computer. It's in a real convenient spot to see if we have visitors. The security monitoring/recording program is on a separate computer so it shouldn't bog that one down too much.

Only problem I see is your phone and Wi-Fi are on the same 2.4 GHZ band.

I had to get a V-tech 5.8 GHZ phone to stop the conflict at my home.

Never mind I see you just went to a wired internet connection. Smile

You're right about the 2.4 GHZ conflict. I have a 5.8 GHZ phone, but it's on my old land line for now. In 2 days, when it cuts off, I'll move it to the MJ.

There's still 2.4 GHZ wireless in the house upstairs, so the 2.4 phone isn't a good fit. It's working flawlessly right now, but long term reliability would be enhanced with the 5.8.

I also put a 100k ohm resistor across the line to act as a terminator to decrease line reflection. There are posts about that spread around, so I figured I should do that before any problems crept up. It's also on its own AC powered USB hub as recommended throughout the forum.

The quality and service have been flawless so far now that I've forwarded ports 5060 and 5070 for UDP traffic and put the hardwired Cat5 cable on.

My router doesn't support QoS, so I'm relieved that everything is working. I also have the front door security camera streaming 24/7 to the same computer without issue.

My Verizon land line will be shut off this morning and they just sent me my last bill for $71.00 for a partial month. I'm glad to have that behind me.

If I had to buy a brand new MJ every month, it would still save me money.
