I've had MagicJack set up for several days. So far, so good. I have called my sister who lives about 500 miles from me in NY and my mother who lives about 1,200 miles from me in FL. The voice quality is excellent even to the point that it's better than my Verizon land line. The connections are faster as well. I have also received calls with MagicJack and so far, no problem. At this point I don't have one bad thing to say. My computer specs are: AMD2 6000+ processor, 2GB RAM Windows XP and I have a Verizon DSL line. I'm going to by a Thin Client so I can use MagicJack without a computer.
I'm seriously thinking about shutting off the Verizon land line and strictly using MagicJack. After all, the key here, at least for me, is saving money. The land line basic charges and taxes are ridiculous and I'm sick of paying over $20 a month just to have a telephone. Then the per minute charges to call 25 miles away are also ridiculous. I'm sure Verizon is going to increase my DSL rate to $24.95 a month. Then again, I'll switch to Netzero DSL or I'll ask Verizon to at least match Netzero. If they don't I'll switch to Netzero. |

Hi Mark
I would keep at least a basic analogue line for emergencies (unless you have a cell phone)....
Glad to see MJ is working well for you. |

| I've thought about it but I would rather save the money. Once I have a Thin client (and a backup power supply) setup then I will likely get ride of the Verizon land line. I'll recoup the costs of a extra expenditures quickly. At this point, I still haven't had one problem with MagicJack. I even think the voice-mail is pretty good. |
