I got mine Saturday and hooked it up. I had to update my computer's java but after that it installed easily.
So far no problems! 911 is active too. Sound quality is a little different, but who cares. No phone bill anymore!!

My area code is pending, so I just routed it through a local Grand Central number. Nice and easy!

Oh...we lost power, and the kids shut off the computer a couple of times (little rugrats), and Magicjack just started itself right back up as soon as the computer was back on.

Nice little toy!

I first read about magicJack in March 2007 as news hit about the magicJacks at the Ted Conference. Well, June 25, 2007 was when I first hooked up a magicJack. I love my magicJacks I have for home, work and my mobile Jack. I have crystal clear audio even when web streaming. The audio is louder and clearer than those crappy cell phones and AT&T lines in Louisville, KY. I first started out with the Nashville, Tennessee area code since that was the closest available area code to Louisville, KY. It was super when the Friday after the 2008 Kentucky Derby I was able to get the Louisville, KY 502 area code and 713 prefix. I have not been able to hear any quality difference between the first magicJack version and the new March 2008 version. My guess is the new version is helping those with marginal broadband and low horsepower computers. This forum is the greatest benefit to magicJack customers as it has helped everyone improve the magicJack experience! magicJack is the greatest invention since the wheel! Razz

Ditto what AllaninKy says... I have two versions, pre-Mar 8th and post-Mar 8th. I can't tell any difference in them. Just speaking anecdotally, I do seem to have noticed variations in quality over time which I'm guessing is due to changes, modifications, and upgrades to the MJ infrastructure, and firmware. But I have nothing more than conjecture to base it on.

Also, call quality continues be outstanding. I've read some of the reviews re: Vonage, which is what I was considering before discovering "my little bundle of joy". ([sup:cd239ac8f4]TM[/sup:cd239ac8f4] by magickJackjoe.) I'm glad I was dissuaded by their monthly fee. There's a lot to be said for (almost) FREE-EEE-EEEE!

90% of the time the pop up actually works for me, since it keeps my most frequently called numbers and is easier to use than the contacts tab. Now, if I could just get the CallerID Spoofer working for me again.
