For the first couple of weeks after I installed it, voices were clipped and cut off and it was very difficult to converse. I tried rebooting my router and modem and using different phones to no avail. It was nearly unusable.
For no discernable reason it began working beautifully one day, with perfect sound quality, and has remained that way ever since, for many weeks now.
My internet service and hardware did not change, so the improvement is a mystery to me. Internet speed was not an issue since I have 100 MBPS fiber optic internet service.
I almost returned the device. I'm very glad I didn't as I'm now looking to save a small fortune! _________________ Hinton Clabaugh |

I've had a similar experience to blue222. When I first got my MJ in Dec 2008, I was very disappointed with the quality of service. I almost returned it, but decided that for $50.00 (CDN) for the first year, I'd take my chances and see if things got better.
I read many posts here, and in other places, set up MJ to run as a service (which seemed to help a little), but overall it was still disappointing. Then, about 6 weeks to a month ago, I started to notice that things seemed to be working much better. The service was close to perfect every time I used it. As blue222 mentioned, I had not changed anything either, but MJ was now working better than it ever had before.
Well, shortly after this turn around I built a new system (Core 2 Duo, 3 GB RAM and a 1 TB SATA drive with NCQ, Windows Server 2008). Since setting this up, and still running MJ as a service, the performance has been flawless. Inbound or outbound, it just flat out works. My old machine was no slow poke (P4 3.4 GHz w/hyperthreading, 2 GB RAM, 2 x 200 GB SATA drives in RAID 0, Windows Server 2008), but it had been running for over a year, and had been through a lot (I test a lot of software). Maybe it just needed a rebuild, or maybe MagicJack just did something to fix the problems. Either way, I am very happy with the current level of performance - long may it last!!
All I can say is the way it's working now it's PFM (Pure Frickin' Magic!!)
