Hi,

I have Magic Jack and an open unlocked RTP300. I just read this thread with great interest.

Are you saying that by following these instructions I can unplug the MagicJack Usb dongle and plug my phone directly into the RTP300 without having the usb dongle plugged into my computer? Or do I still need the MJ thing plugged into my computer.

Thanks in advance!

No you can not plug your MagicJack USB dongle into the RTP300. You 1st obtain your SIP credentials using Stroths MagicJack Utilities Suite 1.6 2nd Enter all the setting given in the photo examples including your MagicJacks SIP credentials. Just follow the first post instructions!

Good Luck

I think you might of mis-understood what I was asking. I know I can't plug my Magic Jack USB Dongle into the RPT300.

I'm just asking if this procedure will allow me to plug my phone into the router without having the Magic Jack usb dongle plugged into my computer and use my phone that way after entering in all of the info.

Thus my phone will worrk without having the computer turned on and without seeing the annoying software pop up.

Any help appreciated! Smile

Hi all,

I got it working by not using the

ProxyName = proxy01.********.talk4free.com

That I got from my MagicJack SIP Info

I switched it to proxy1.miami.talk4free.com:5070
and can now get registered and make and receive phone calls including caller ID! Yay!!! Smile

But I am getting an echo on both sides of the call.

Ok, before I even clicked send, I realized that the ******** proxy was missing the :5070 at the end!

So, I switched it to proxy01.********.talk4free.com:5070 and all is working well so far with much less echo! Smile

I hope this helps someone in the future. Smile

TIA

Thanks MacMan! I really love how it works now. Smile

The only problem I have yet to figure out is that my voicemail notification stays on and flashing whether or not I have any messages or not. I shut the feature off in the RTP300, but now I get no notification even when there are messages.

Any ideas appreciated!

The voicemail was working fine for as for indicating that I had new message with a rapid pulsing dial-tone before the regular dial-tone. I however did notice that after retrieving message by calling the MJ number it take time to reset to a cleared message status. I longer use MJ voice mail feature as I find more convenient to use an answer machine that I have set to answer the calls on the third ring. The reason I set the answering machine to answer on the third ring is that the MJ answers on the fourth ring and at this time MJ does not give it user the capability to turn of the voicemail. the advantage is when I return home I don't pick up the phone to check my messages and I still have remote message retrieval by using the answering machine. The disadvantage is a prefer four rings before the answer machine pickups.

Ok, thanks! That's probably what I will end up doing unless someone replies with a fix for this. Smile

Thanks for all of the help! Smile
