So, for completely free calling, all calls must be initiated through Google Voice, hence the use of GVOut. Another reason to initiate all calls through Google Voice is quality, it's fantastic, and not just relatively speaking, it really has great quality. That's my experience, anyway.

I'm not convinced that GV has anything to do with the quality. I've tried the USA echo test with the GV web callback feature once going through Gizmo and once going through Sipgate - the Gizmo route was slightly garbled but Sipgate was crystal clear but about 1 second more of a delay. GV just initiates the call to the selected provider which handles then handles the RTP voice transmission/reception packets.

My 2 cents.

This is not to say anything negative about the developer(s) since the mjmd5 proxy works rock solid with any brand ATA and any brand softphone including xlite.

My primary phone system is now SS/Sipgate/GV which has been solid going on the 4th day now. I would not knock Sipgate's tech support, they answer E-mails within 24 hours and their website is pretty informative. For a free incoming Voip service, they are much better compared to Gizmo/VoxOx IMO.

I follow most of your post. What is SS? And I am guessing mjmd5 is some proxy for magic jack. Not familiar.

SS= Sipsorcery, an experimental Voip switching system that allows for multiple providers. You specify your incoming and outgoing providers through a sophisticated Ruby dialer script. SS now allows any free incoming Voip provider with the GV callback feature similar to what the GVOut proxy is doing. The big difference is that they act as the "proxy" so you don't need your PC/laptop on.

Unfortunately, they are asking newbies to check back 9/8 to allow for new accounts so if you will have to wait at least until then to try them out.

SS work better than gv out then?

I don't see a sign up page for ss.

Notwithstanding Why I don't understand need for a download if they are running the proxy and holding my settings, I downloaded some sipsorcerer program but at first glance, looks like you need to dl silverlight engine. Not sure how you would run the program which looks very cryptic. Even the doc is a docx extension which I can't seem to get open office to open or word.

Yes, that's what I'm inclined to think as well since Gizmo5 is my carrier regardless of how I initiate the call. But in practice, a call initiated though Gizmo5 is always poor quality, while one initiated through Google Voice is always excellent. Go figure.

And, yes, Microsoft Silverlight, latest version is a prerequisite to signing up - which is now locked until at least a week from now.

I am getting the following error. Before trying the ATA, tried to use X-lite. If I point to the proxy, it cannot register. X-lite by itself works fine.

Another issue also: Cannot receive calls from another phone to GV, but can call from GV and it rings on x-lite or gizmo without GV out proxy.

Please help? Am I missing any other install package?

*** It started working fine. Tested with 2 calls. Awesome utility. If you save settings, it uses plain text even for password. But, it works great.

Wiki has silverlight as a browser plugin, but doesn't say what browser. What browser does silverlight need?

Is this just what is needed to see signup?

Not sure what doesn't work but I believe the major ones are supported like Firefox, Opera, and of course Microsoft's IE.

I assume you are running a PC, not Mac or Linux - I think Silverlight only works on PC platform.

Well, with the latest GVout, I finally got things to work, (sort of) with G5 using the debug mode cmd window to help. What's weird is that I have to set the ATA up so that it doesn't register and no dialtone. This means that I leave the SIP domain empty (no proxy01.sipphone.com entry) and I just stick the PC IP address in SIP Proxy field.

So, with no dialtone, I can still dial out, disconnect, see the correct status in the cmd window and get the GV callback ring. With the ATA registered and a dialtone, I don't get the constant client messages from the ATA IP address and it won't work.

Weird, to dial out with no dialtone, but it works, nevertheless. This is with the Sunrocket/Vonics/Innomedia ATA. It works best if you set GVout to no delay/no busy tone.

Synchron Cool

Innomedia ATA:
Been trying every setting +- SIP Domain, Register timeout 60-3600...
I tried with Registered/dialtone and without as you suggested. GVOut shows outgoing call and that is the last. No callback...

Only works with SIP softphone without problems. Help please?
Thanks,
vic

This works great and better then the x-lite 4 beta. I have been using x-lite for the longest time and the older program ver 3 has more options. Great find Jose.

NCH ExpressTalk freeware appears to support only one SIP account, unlike PhonerLite.

url for phonelite.

I got googlevoiceout to work with nch expresstalk. It doesn't give me the 408 error or the sipstack crash error. The trick is use sipgate.com for server and under advanced use 192.168.0.10:5060 or what ever ip, for the outgoing server.

I used processlasso to disallow magicjack.exe and mjsetup.exe and I can use the magicjack dongle and phone. I would be super duper excited at this magicjack backup plan, except I cannot answer or dial without the softphone. client. You would think if I pick up, the mic input could answer and if no volume input level after 30 seconds it would auto hangup. also listen for keypad.

I ordered the pap2t from amazon. I will see it I can get google voice out working with it.
