|

There need to be a preference to select whether to confirm or not confirm (or just disable confirmation altogether) the quitting of the Intel Macintosh version of the magicJack application.
Currently, when it is always required to confirm quitting the magicJack application it prevents the controlled shutdown of a system when a UPS detects a power failure. Also, scheduled shutdowns or automated shutdown by a backup server are also prevented.
Can anyone provide a work around (plist change)? |

There only seems to exist one plist for magicJack, an Options.ini, located in the User/Library/Preferences/Magicjack area.
That Options.ini file, opened with TextEdit and others, just shows to be gobbledygook, at least to me.
Someone with further knowledge may be able to help, but I'm guessing we're kind of out of luck on this...
There has to be a way to do it, though, as updating, or forcing a restart of the magicJack from the menu does not incur the shutdown dialog... |

The following shell script command on OSX 10.6.4 will do it:
| Code: | | killall mj_dev magicJack |
This will close MJ no questions asked. You don't even need 'root' level access.
(Snow Leopard and most recent MJ update)
EDIT: Also you can use launchd (see Lingon GUI program) to set up this command to be actioned ahead of scheduled reboots, backups etc. |
