Has anyone tried this:

http://multimontreal.com/blog/2010/02/magicjack-beeping-fix

Not sure what the connection is but I unchecked that options. I'll see if it makes a difference for me.

This 'fix' does work and this is basically how I've ended up using my MJ since the stupid company doesn't want to fix the problem. However, with this so called fix I am not able to dial any tones from my phone. So say I'm on a customer service call and they say "Press 1 for this, 2 for that" pressing the numbers doesn't work from my phone. I can only do it from my MJ softphone on the computer which is quite inconvenient.

So guys, its a trade off, would you rather have the people you call hear beeps or deal with the inconvenience of using the MJ softphone on the computer for dialing tones. In my case the first was unacceptable so I went with the second.

I must say this really isn't a fix. It's more of a workaround. Actually my whole beeping problem started exactly when MJ introduced the 'Pin not recognized' checkbox!!!!!

After enduring the dreaded beeps for a year or so, they just might be gone for me. I had the MJ with the extension cable connected to a Dell laptop 2.0 ghz celeron 768 mb ram. I was getting the beeps and other quirky issues. I bought one of Alpmans TCs with 1ghz Via 256mb ram and no extension cable. It has been up and running for a week now and calls are crisp and clear with no beeps. This is true even when my bride talks to her girlfriends. I still have my fingers crossed. Just thought I would pass this info along.

One thing I tried as an experiment from talking to a friend was to set my Magicjack into 3G mode. I have a 20 Meg down connection so speed was never a problem. Don't know why but in 3G mode I don't have any audio problems that I had in the other mode. Must be the different audio codex.

When I receive long distance calls, after about 15 min., I hear a beep
(caller does not hear it) and then another beep in about 1 min., after which my call is disconnected. The caller must redial my number to finish a conversation. This has happened often in the last 2 months. Does anyone know why or what to do?? Thanks!

I was jumping through a bunch of hoops with customer service and noticed that everything he was having me do was related to the settings of the handset. I clicked on the menu button and clicked "switch to telephone". I will let you know if it didn't work permanently.

The tech support told me to download the DivX software also, but he also told me to go to my network settings and put an ISP number in. It worked for a few calls and then it would cut out just enough to still be irritating to my callers.
I am going to try one more thing.
I am going to buy one of those filters you can put on your DSL cable.
I have changed phones, changed internet companies and even moved and it's still doing it.
I had no trouble for over a year....but has been doing it for about six months now.
I really like Magic Jack...I just hope they can fix this problem.

First time today - on all outgoing calls called party complains of hearing tones as if I'm "dialing" during conversation. (I hear nothing on my end).
Will have to stop using MagicJack if this continues - although I paid for 5 years in advance and international calls credit! WOULD APPRECIATE ANY CLUES......

There are 27 pages of clues in this thread. I don't know what else could possibly be said.

Well, I have been emailing Dan Borislow's address talking to a tech.
I wanted to uninstall and reinstall to try that.
But, the uninstall for a Mac is just too complicated for me.
So, he told me that they are sending me a new one and maybe that will fix the problem.
I find that the tech support overall is pretty good, especially if you email Dan if the chat tech can't solve your problem.
We shall see if the newer model has the same problem.

I had the problem of disconnection after a chattering noise (beeping, etc). Sometimes it was after just a few minutes. Sometimes after 20 or 25 minutes. After reading the Tech Support Info on changing my Power Management settings for the USB Root Hubs, I went into Control Panel and de-clicked the box - 'Allow Computer to turn off this Device to conserve power.' Now the phone is much more clear and , so far, has not gone to chattering at all even after a half hour call. Thank you! Love my Magic Jack
