Thanks STxFarmer for this post.
I downloaded the two parts for the tweaked 512mb image for the CA15. The contents of the two files look identical. Are they? Did I goof it up?
512Mb_v1.5_Tweaked_BV.dd 500,472 KB 8/24/2009 4:46 PM

| The first part is 200mb and the second part is 28mb. Once you extract either of them you have 1 image and 1 text file in a folder. It doesn't matter which you extract you end up with the same thing. |

I wrote a complete set of instructions on how to prep a USB Flash Drive for writing a image to a Neoware unit. I also added the HP format tool so that you can make sure your USB drive is formated correctly.
This will be much less confusing for anyone that needs to do this now. The download for the Bootable USB drive has been changed to the new files for this. |

OK, I have tried it and can't seem to get it to work.
I followed the directions but when I get to the step "Image Write Mode", it doesn't seem to work.
First, it doesn't take long, I assume copying a 512mb image would take some time. Almost immediately, I get this on the monitor:
| Quote: | dd: /dev/hda: No such device or address
Image operation complete.
Please remove the USB key and press Enter... |
When I remove the usb key and press enter, I get this on the monitor:
| Quote: | Verifying DMI Pool Data .......
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER |
I have attempted this several times with the same results. There is a blue light on the dom that is lit the entire time and a red light that is lit at times.
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? Thanks. |

When you boot off of the USB you will have 6 choices:
1: Image Write Mode
2: Image Record Mode
3: Image Record Mode (XPe)
4: Secure Erase Flash
5: Format Flash ext2
6: Exit
First off, you cannot use your keypad for number entry, use the numbers at the top of your keyboard.
You must have the image you want to put on the unit in the "images" folder on the USB drive
If you want to erase or format your unit do those and reboot each time.
To write an image to a Neoware unit you choose #1 and press enter
Type in yes and press enter
You will then have a choice of which image you want to put on the unit from the images you have in the "images" folder.
Choose which number you want and press enter
Type in yes and press enter
Dots will be written to the screen as the write continues.
Reboot and you should be finished.
The only time I have seen the error that you are getting is when the DOM is not recognized by the neoware unit. You could have an issue there. |

| Thank you very much for posting these files!! I loaded the tweaked 256 mb image on my Neoware 800mhz 256hd and 256mb RAM. However I cannot get the operating system to recognize the MJ. I get the warning you must plug into usb. I see the MJ cd rom drive but not the phone or MJ usb drive like I've read. I've tried dozens of solutions on the web. Will MJ run with only 256 Ram? Also, I've installed the USB 2.0 drivers. I even reflashed the unit with the 256 tweaked image. Any other suggestions? Thank you. |

STxFarmer,
I am looking for simple old 256MB SP1 image for Neoware. I was able to pull one from working unit, but TC was taken off the domain and I cannot change Admin password (all I could do was to reset it blank and cannot change it). Would be nice to have small simple SP1 as the one I have is the most stable, absolute delight, runs for months w/o need to reboot. |

I upgraded the RAM to 768mb. Can the 256 mb flash still handle the new update? Cannot get it to load to the MJ menu. |
