One thing I'd like to modify about GVOut is I'd like to have it start minimized or, better yet, have it sit in the notification area and/or run as a service. The main benefit of this, for me at least, is to help prevent GVOut from being accidentally stopped or having its configuration botched by other users in the house. If anyone has a tip on how to accomplish this, I'm all ears.
EDIT: Jeez, I just noticed that GVOut is in the notification area, and when minimized, that's the only place it is (it doesn't sit in the taskbar.) So, it was just a matter of adjusting the properties of the startup shortcut to start GVOut minimized.
VOIP has broken me brains.

| I'm having the same problems as a few above have mentioned. After placing an outgoing call, which works fine, I must then restart gvout and sometimes xlite to place a second call and get a busy signal. Tried the xgvout and it makes no difference. I'm using port 5060. Right now I'm just using xlite as a soft phone with gizmo. Everything works fine when I bypass the proxy and just connect directly to google voice (of course the 3 minute limit applies.) It seems that when using the gvout proxy tool xlite cannot tell when the call ends. After hanging up the phone recieving the call, xlite sits there still "connected" with the timer running until I end the call on xlite as well. When directly connecting to google voice xlite displays "hung up" when the other phone is hung up. |

I have been having this same issue from the start. Although it seems to work for some folks. I would hope someone can look into this issue (and hopefully resolve).
Thanks. |

Tks. That Accton phone setting is strange, or for GVout you must do like this way?
But for GVout, sometime I have to restar it, otherwise I can go through. Is Gizmo problem or GVout?
Is there a detail and simply guide for how to use sipsorcery start from setting SIP provider to incoming outcall dial plan?
Thank you everybody. Great. Now I have another wireless line in my home. No more fight.

You have to have GVOut configured to proxy01.sipphone.com, or 198.65.166.131.
Start the GVout program and then let your sip phone do its magic. Try a call, it immediately hangs up, it calls you back, then you can talk for hours and hours! It took me forever and a day to figure it out ugh. |

What kind of router are you using? I'm using an old Dlink DI524, that seems the most likely source of the problem, I've tried it on two computers now and the same problem. I've opened up port 5060 to be sure. Unfortunately I don't have a laptop so I can't try plugging straight into the modem. |

| Somewhat OT: I have a D-Link DI-524 as well and have noticed intermittent connection drops and other weirdness like web pages loading without CSS and such. It was such a nuisance that I decided to take advantage of a sale on an Asus router to replace it (haven't put it into operation yet.) But, for the past week I haven't been using my magicJack and the DI-524 has been working flawlessly. It appears that the magicJack causes the DI-524 a significant amount of indigestion. So, if one does have this particular router (maybe others as well), you might want to do GVOut testing without the magicJack hooked up. |

| The above didn't work for me, same symptoms with or without magicjack. I have the pc with Magicjack hooked straight to an ethernet port on the router, so that's probably cutting down on the congestion anyway. |

i am noticing that my incoming calls no longer shows caller ID, and some (half or so) of my outgoing calls thru GVout do not get a callback.
Did they change something? |

| As an update, I've installed a new linksys N router and am able to use the sipsorcery method with no problems. I don't want to reset everything to test gvout but I would think it would work now too. |

has anyone tried if GV configured with Gizmo+Xlite will work outside US?
I tried settingup my US GV+Gizmo5+Xlite account in UK and I was able to get connected, however when I tried to dial a US number, i get unauthorized error message.
anyone know how to resolve this? |

I have wasted 5 hours, here, as a windows user usually if I cannot get going in hours I trash.
Unfortunately, I cannot buy a t k six thousand as they only run the ccards as recurring charges. This is fraudulent and should never be allowed. This is a one time purchase.
So before buying a pap2t, I thought I would try sipgate and gvout. Firstly, sipgate alone didn't really work: calls have 20 second delay! Login is flakey, and now not working at all. Their own tech support number seems broken, because they are using sipgate.
I also downloaded xlite but couldn't get the gvout to work with it following all directions. 408 errors timeout. Like other's.
So, I am concluding sipgate is crap, and xlite is incompatible with gvout. Sipgate support is non existent.
Gizmo5.com make no mention of free phone numbers or free incoming. So what is address to sign up for this and what soft phone can I test? |

Google Voice provides you with the phone number, Gizmo5 provides you with the VOIP service.
All calls (sans international) through Google Voice are free, all incoming calls through Gizmo5 are free. Outgoing free calls through Gizmo5 are limited to 3 minutes.
So, for completely free calling, all calls must be initiated through Google Voice, hence the use of GVOut. Another reason to initiate all calls through Google Voice is quality, it's fantastic, and not just relatively speaking, it really has great quality. That's my experience, anyway.
As for softphones, Gizmo5 has their own, but I haven't used it beyond signing up for the Gizmo5 account and registering the Gizmo5 account with the Google Voice account, so I can't comment further on its use with GVOut.

I know my settings are in x lite are correct since I got it to work. (sipgate + gv) Problem is flakiness. I haven't got to point where I would feel comfortable spending $60 on a papt2.
First hurdle is getting sipgate to register. It seems at times to not want to register. Then, often I call sip number and get number disconnected. Once that works, when I turn on proxy, it won't register with 408 error. If I exit xlite and gv and restart both, I must first turn off proxy, then stop gv then start it again, then turn on proxy. Walla, often it works. Part 2: Then I dial out, it dials me back and calls are only lasting 40 seconds or minute then hanging up. If I dial again it tells me my sip stack has crashed and phone won't work again, unless I start again from scratch.
So, Firstly, I need to know where to get this gizmo 5 account with phone service (do they not give you a phone number?) and try that route. Secondly, could use some trouble shooting help on sip stacks.
Problem with all voip is they demand $20 a month, with me providing lines and bandwidth. $5 to $10 month is price point (ata only). I am guessing 3 hours outgoing calls to mothers and tech support = 180 minutes a day or 3000 minutes on low side with two people. At 2 cents a minute, this is $60 a month. Hardly acceptable. Now consider they are already slipping in hidden costs like 911 service, and quality doesn't appear so hot, judging by softphone (registering issue and 20 second delay on one call). |

Your situation was exactly my situation when I was trying to use GVout as a proxy. I couldn't get consistency in X-lite and also had to keep re-registering and starting/stopping the proxy for every dial out. Worse, when I tried with my ATA (not a Linksys flavor) my GV callbacks would only work if the ATA was not registered and it required the debugging parameters to be constanly used to monitor what was going on and whether the ATA was properly linked up to the proxy. It was trial & error at best.
This is not to say anything negative about the developer(s) since the mjmd5 proxy works rock solid with any brand ATA and any brand softphone including xlite. I tried getting GVout to work when word got out that our mj passwords were in jeopardy. Once, passwordfinder 2.1 came out, I was relieved to know that the old passwords still work so I'd stick with mjmd5/ATA combo for now which I use as a backup.
My primary phone system is now SS/Sipgate/GV which has been solid going on the 4th day now. I would not knock Sipgate's tech support, they answer E-mails within 24 hours and their website is pretty informative. For a free incoming Voip service, they are much better compared to Gizmo/VoxOx IMO.
