Does anyone know if they have starting porting numbers yet? I would like to keep my same home number. I live in the 757 area code in VA.

I talked with MJ support today via chat and they said it is coming by the end of the year.

LOL if you have been with the magicjack long enough you know they don't do what they say at least 6 months after they say they are going to. For example area codes! They had VERY limited area codes last July (of 07) and I was stuck with a Pittsburgh area code for a while. (I'm from philly) They said that they would release the area codes soon.. but, it took forever...
Anyway my 2 cents.. I myself want my number ported... (amanage told me that it would be available by April of 2008, but that didnt happen.

I gave my MJ away and wont get a new one until they allow porting. It is useless to me. I stopped hanging on their promises. They do NOTHING in a timley manner. The goverment doesnt even work as slow as MJ does in pushing new things out.

if you port your number, and use magicjack too much, will you loose your ported number when MJ cancels your account?

I was talking to the tech chat on the magicjack website and the person on there told me after january 1st, 2009 sometime for number porting and it will cost $10 to port your number.

The more I think about porting the MORE I will NOT do it ...

Port your number on a service that may or may not be around or port your number to a service that has constant problems ...

Makes you think the number they gave you is good enough ...lol
