|
|
I would like to be able to use MJ on a Mac which is shared by all my family members. No user session is guaranteed to stay open at all times. I have tested MJ on the Mac and it works OK as long as the user session stay open and no fast user switching happens. For some reason the application, although running, is not able to work properly and no phone calls can be made or received, just dial tone.
In order to fix that, I'd like to have it started as root during boot up. Does anybody managed to do that?
Regards

I don't have the answer to running as a service but I have been looking around to see where the files are. if you check under /users/[username]/.majicJack/ There are two folders:
/ISA which has some file for an upgrade of sorts.
/Softphone which is where the actual program is installed called magicJack.
if you go into the contents of majicJack there is a ton of stuff. I think you could design your own skins
There is also a config file under
/users/[username]/Library/preferences/majicjack/ |

| If there are any updates I'd really be interested as this is a problem that I am also struggling with. |

OK, so what I got it to do is this- run as root. I am having issues with the disk image needing to be formated each time, but thats for another day. If you open up the terminal and type
| Code: |
cd /Applications/Start\ magicJack.app/Contents/MacOS
sudo ./autorun
|
It should open up as root. Now you can fast user switch and it still works. Now I just gotta figure out how to get this to start without needing authentication(email/pass) and roots password. Anyone smarter than me wanna give it a crack?[/code] |
