Hello, I just picked up a magicjack a few days ago and I'm blown away. The install was easy and call quality is crystal clear. Everything just worked out of the box. Right now I have it set up on an old pc running xp.

I ordered a T5710 with 256/256. 800mhz processor. I haven't received it yet but I have been googling like crazy to learn how to set this up.
I've come across a few posts saying that because of DirectX 512 is the new minimum. It's hard to tell what information is current.

Will I need to upgrade anything?

I have a linux desktop that runs 24/7 for other reasons, would remote booting XPe from the linux desktop help, I have no idea?

You don't need directX. It should still run in 256 fine.

Speaking for experience, I've had this issue with a few of my early Neoware and WYSE 256/256 units. Remove/uninstall everything you can off of the flash disk to make room for updates as well. If there is not enough space for the next update it could crash or lock up. You'll have to uninstall mJ and then run the update if there is not enough room on the flash disk. Best to have 512/512 on these models, but it will work.

For setup info, check out the Dummy's guide at http://www.magicjacksupport.com/dummies-guide-configure-an-hp-t5700-for-mj-using-xpe-w-sp2-t3605.html While the guide is for the T5700, it's the same procedure for the T5710. Just go to the appropriate HP thin client download area for the T5710 at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=ca&prodNameId=439749&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=439748&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1058

Once you install the XPe image, remove anything you won't use. The guide discusses what can be removed without affecting your MJ.

Also, as mentioned, you don't need Directx.

Have fun.

Thanks, that's encouraging. I've already downloaded the files I need and created my USB install key.
I'll post my results in a week or two.

Success!!, it wasn't too difficult. Call quality is crystal clear.

I'll post some of my setup details in the Dummies guide when I get a chance.
