I don't understand how this would be beneficial. The Jupiter Jack is basically a replacement for a headset on a mobile phone that has a built in mic and FM transmitter, so you hear the other party through your car stereo.
So, if I was inclined to use a Jupiter Jack with my Magic Jack, while in my house, I'd have to:
1) Custom wire the connector so that the mic wire breaks out into the mic jack of the computer, and the earphone wire breaks out into the headphone jack of the computer.
2) Set up an FM radio near me to receive the transmission from the Jupiter Jack.
If hands free softphone usage was my goal, I'd be better off getting a lapel mic and using the computer's own speakers. Otherwise, the standard mic/ear headset would be great.
If my goal was to use a Jupiter Jack with my Magic Jack, while mobile in my car, I'd have to:
1) Subscribe to a mobile cell based internet service (minimum $40.00 per month).
2) Custom wire the connector so that the mic wire breaks out into the mic jack of the computer, and the earphone wire breaks out into the headphone jack of the computer.
3) Tune my car stereo to the appropriate Jupiter Jack station.
If I was using Wifi from the car, that means I'm stationary, and would still be better off using a standard mic/ear headset.
The geek factor may be "epic," but otherwise, I'm missing the "awesomeness," here. |

Just for fun, I did a quick Google search on "jupiter jack review" and came up with this:
http://www.does-the-product-work.com/jupiter-jack/
Worth looking at just for the entertainment value. I'm just guessing here, but I think the original post may have been done tongue-in-cheek. Jupiter Jack + Magic Jack!!?
How could it get any better? |
