I have been around in circles with the MJ tech support on this. I think about 10 or more techs have worked with me, and all of them want me to do the same exact things, even after supposedly reading the previous chats. I don't know how many times I've raised and lowered volume controls.

THE PROBLEM:
My volume is too quiet. But the catch is that it doesn't start that way. The dial tone is fine, dialing is loud enough, and so is the first ring. But anything after the first ring is at about 50% of where ever I have the volume levels set to. This happens both with the handset and through the desktop speakers.

WHAT I'VE TRIED:
- Adjusting all volume levels both in the Windows settings and in the MJ settings.
- Different USB ports.
- With and without the extension cable.
- A powered USB hub.
- A different phone.
- Uninstalling and re-installing the MJ and its software.
- Set the Windows communication thing to "Do nothing" when communication is detected.
- A different computer.
- Moving the phone several feet away from the computer.
- Applying about 8 different copies of the "upgrade.exe" file that tech support kept sending me to try (and each time it wasn't necessarily a different tech, I had one tech have me run it three times... but he also greeted me twice during this as though I was suddenly a new person to him half way through).
- I've run that VOIP tester or whatever, and my line is perfectly fine for VOIP.
- Disabling my anti-virus and firewall.

Intel Core i7-930

Oh, my Internet connection is through Cable with a speed of 35Mbps down and 3Mbps up. I've tried bypassing the router with no luck.

Anyone have any suggestions? It works, I just am forced to keep everything else silent in my place so I can hear the call. That, or I use my amplified speakers haha.

Just a thought, any chance you tried updating your audio drivers or have gone into the settings for your audio card? As I didnt see you mention your audio card and drivers.

Again just a thought.

Let me know

I actually did update the drivers and played around with the settings in the soundcard drivers for the Creative X-Fi. Nothing in there helps. It appears that Windows treats the headset as a completely different audio device and ignores anything with the Creative settings.

Since in your orig. post you said you tried it on another PC was it the same or different ISP? If the same I would try it one more time on a friends PC with a different ISP. IF it was a different ISP then I would think your MJ dongle is defective since the problem follows that dongle.

It was the same ISP. Everyone I know has the same ISP or dial-up. There's not really a lot of other options. As far as I know, Charter Communications is friendly with the MagicJack and other VOIP.
