Hi all,

Been a while since I worked on this, but this is where I landed.

I added the 256mb SO-Dimm for a total of 392mb or thereabouts.

Bought a Zio eUSB SM card reader on ebay for $5 shipped. It has the proper drivers to work with the SMPREP utility that people use to fix SM cards. note that these are way obsolete, and drivers only go up to XP, so keep an XP box handy (but really who is going to try this that doesn't)

I was never able to get the xD card to format properly for use in the Wyse (WT). maybe because it is a 256 card and SM only supports to 128 for most devices, or maybe it won't work period. I'm not buying a 128 xd for the eBay crackhead prices that they are selling for now just to try this. Likewise, a 128mb SM card is $30, and no guarantee that it will be compatible with the WT either.

Also, at some point, I broke the 64mb SMC that came with the WT, but was able to reformat it with the zio. unfortunately, when I reflash the WT, it apparently remains unavailable for storage.

I have had some struggles getting Wyse Simple Imager (WSI) to work, and it is required to flash the 192mb image from the wyse website (netxfer can't push the .i2d filetype). I can flash the 128mb image with netxfer, but when I am done c: is only 120mb, so I don't think the 64mb SMC is working even though it gets formatted during the flash process.

my next step would be getting a replacement SMC or getting WSI to work. If anyone wants to donate any pieces/parts to my noble cause, PM me.

Thanks!

Hi slceso,

Glad to hear you are giving it another go! Sorry it is being such a pain!

A couple of things to try here...

Compaq/HP also offered this model in the Evo T20. They have a 192Mb image which may be the *.bin format. I'm really not sure what this *.i2d file format consists of, but reading HP's instructions for upgrade, it seems that they are saying one can just rename the *.i2d file to *.bin ?? Looking at the raw files (128MB.bin & 192MB.i2d) with a text viewer, I do see a lot of similarities in the 2 file types.

What happens if you remove the SM card after flashing with the 128MB image? Does the C: drive size change?

What do you see when powering up or down the unit with the 128MB image? I forget where it occurs (I think during power-down), but the unit will run a test on its internal flash memory. It will also state which device it is testing 1, 2, & 3. Device #3 is your SM card. If it passes these tests, the flash should be good.

Hello,
I was able to put MJ on an HP T5525 running full xp, but i want a new challenge for Wyse 9235LE

I was able to reflash the 9235 to default by using flash build 247 on the wyse website. unfortunately I need drivers for the PCi bridge before plugging MJ again.

You would think that they are on the image but, man 2 days later and still looking...
The chipset is supposed to be Cyrix 5535 that later was bought by AMD and is a part of the Geode series embedded system.... any help is appreciated

try freewysemonkeys.com or maybe MagicMo will chime in.

I could never get WSM to work again to reflash, and I killed my SM card and didn't want to pay another $30 for a maybe.

Good luck!
